Your 30-day free trial simply expires — there is no auto-charge. You will not be billed unless you actively choose a paid plan.
Your study data is preserved for 30 days after the trial ends. If you subscribe within that window, all your progress is restored. After 30 days, your data may be permanently deleted.
You can cancel anytime from your account dashboard or through the Stripe customer portal. There is no cancellation fee.
All subscriptions are prepaid, so cancelling simply stops auto-renewal. You keep full access for the remainder of the period you already paid for. For example, if you cancel a 6-month plan 3 months in, you still have 3 months of access left. No further charges will be applied.
All sales are final and we do not offer refunds. Because subscriptions are prepaid, cancelling does not cut off your access early — you keep full use of Retentive for the entire period you paid for. We just stop charging you going forward.
Yes, all prices are listed in US Dollars (USD). Depending on your location, applicable sales tax or VAT may be added at checkout by our payment processor, Stripe.
Your Retentive account works across devices. Simply log in with the same credentials on each device. Your study progress syncs automatically so you can pick up where you left off.
Your data (topics, items, and review progress) is preserved for 30 days after your subscription ends. If you resubscribe within that window, everything is restored. After 30 days, your data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
You can delete your account from the Settings section of your dashboard. Account deletion is permanent and removes all your data, including study items and progress. This action cannot be undone.
We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) through Stripe. We do not store any card details on our servers — Stripe handles all payment processing securely.
Retentive uses a scientifically-backed spaced repetition algorithm that schedules reviews at optimal intervals. When you remember an item well, the next review is pushed further out. When you struggle, reviews come sooner. This targets the exact moment you are about to forget, making your study time dramatically more efficient.
Yes. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256). Authentication is handled by Supabase with bcrypt password hashing, and payments are processed by Stripe (PCI DSS Level 1 certified).

Retentive offers four learning modes to match your goals:
Ultra-Cram — Rapid-fire review for last-minute preparation. Cram — Intensive review with tighter intervals. Steady — Balanced spacing for long-term retention (recommended for most users). Extended — Maximum spacing for material you want to remember for years.
You can request a copy of your data at any time from your account dashboard. If your account is terminated, you have 30 days to request an export before your data is permanently deleted.
